Difference in the Focus of Negation Between English and Chinese Languages and the Translation Strategy

英汉两种语言在否定问题上具有大体的一致性。然而,当否定句中出现一些肯定强项词和肯定弱项词时,二者则常会在否定焦点的问题上表现出巨大的差异,从而给语义的正确理解带来诸多麻烦。因此,需对英汉语习惯否定焦点的差异进行分析解释,并提出相应的翻译策略。

The English and Chinese languages remain generally the same in negation, but when it comes to some affirmative strong words and affirmative weak words in negation, the two languages demonstrate great difference in the focus of negation, leading to certain troubles in the semantic understanding of texts. Therefore, we need to distinguish the differences between English and Chinese in the focus of negations, for the sake of which we propose some corresponding translation strategies.
