On August 25, over 500 physicists and students from across China gathered at Tsinghua University to commemorate the 80^th birthday of the Chinese Physical Society （CPS）. The participants included Nobel Prize Laureate Chen-Ning Yang, State Supreme S＆T Award winner XIE Jialin as well as 40-odd academicians of CAS and CAE. Distinguished guests from the physical societies of the US, Europe and Japan also joined the celebration.
