摘要
对于异文化形象的书写是一个表现行为主体主观意识的文化想象过程,想象主体由于受到个人经历、社会环境的影响,产生了偏离异文化真实状况的偏见。本文从文化想象以及"他者"的批评视角,对厄普代克的《恐怖分子》进行文本解读,探究其创作中所表现出的文化想象特征,即厄普代克对于穆斯林形象的书写基于他本人对于异文化的主观臆想,沿袭了西方世界长期以来对于伊斯兰和阿拉伯世界的东方式书写,折射出"9·11"事件后西方对"他者"文化的集体阐释。
The portrayal of images from different cultures is a process of cultural imagination through which one's subjective consciousness is clearly illustrated. Biased opinions arise from personal experiences, social influences of the imagining subject. From the perspectives of cultural imagination and critical theories about "the other", the paper deciphers John Updike's Terrorist, exploring the features of the cultural imagination in his writing, such as: his portrayal of Muslim images out of his morbid subjective imagination. Updike's writing is line with the western tradition of the oriental presentation of Islamic and Arabic worlds, reflecting the collective interpretation of the culture of "the other" in the post-9/11 western world.
