Meaning Deviation and High-Level Metonymy in the Modern Chinese Interrogative Sentence

本文将语境因素考虑在内,从认知高层转喻角度,探讨现代汉语疑问句意义偏离的程度和偏离背后的认知机制。对疑问句意义偏离的分类进行细化;提出偏离存在程度不同的问题,并将偏离分为强偏离疑问句和弱偏离疑问句;考查了4种疑问句在具体语境中意义偏离的情况,得出疑问句意义偏离背后的认知机制是高层转喻,而且存在两次转喻激活;并提出现代汉语疑问句意义偏离的高层转喻基本操作模式。

Taking communicative situations into consideration from the cognitive approach, the degrees of meaning deviation in Chinese interrogative sentences and cognitive motivation are explored in this paper. Further classification of meaning deviation is pro- posed. Strong-deviation and weak-deviation are put forward as the two main types of meaning deviation. We further explore how widely this phenomenon exists in the four types of Chinese interrogative sentences and conclude that this phenomenon is quite common. High-level metonymy is believed to be the motivation for meaning deviation and an Operation Model for High-level Me- tonymy is proposed herewith.
