The Song of Everlasting Sorrow, the translation of Wang Anyi＇s novel, is acclaimed as ＂a genuine classic＂. It re- produces the power and beauty of Wang＇ s literary world by taking a diversity of translation strategies to adjust the otherness of the original to the aesthetic habits and cognitive abilities of western readers. The conflicts between fidelity and readability, the origi- nal writer and readers have been reconciled into a state of harmonious co-existence. The case study of the translating process can provide a good reference to the way contemporary Chinese literature goes abroad.
