萨瓦歌剧（Savoy Opera），19世纪末英国维多利亚时代发展起来的一种喜歌剧形式，最早建立者是当时最有名的戏剧搭档“G＆S”——剧作家W.S．吉尔伯特（William Schwenck Gilbert,1836～1911）与作曲家阿瑟·沙利文（Arthur Sullivan，1842～1900）。作为萨瓦歌剧的最成功实践者，G＆S在1871-1896年间共创作了14部喜歌剧，
Savoy Opera became an prominent genre in late 19^(th)-century Victorian England.The famous partnership of 'G&S'(dramatist W.S.Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan) created 14 popular operettas during 1871 to 1896.From its inception in 1881 until the year 1982, the Savoy Theatre presented G&S operettas exclusively.In the past 125 years,G&S wielded tremendous influence on popular culture in the English-speaking world as well as the development of the musical. Even today,there are still many performing troupes specializing in G&S repertoire.
