严复所提倡的信、达、雅三字标准在翻译界影响很大,不仅被用来翻译文言文,也是外语翻译中的准则。英语散文的翻译,最难的不是语言的翻译,而是如何传递原文所给人的感觉和神韵。也就是其中的"雅",雅是指译文要优美自然,使译文生动、形象、完美地表达原文的写作风格。如何达到"雅"是个值得探索的话题。

It has been used not only for translation in classical Chinese but also in foreign translation. As for prose translation, the most difficult point is not language translation, hut how to translate the feeling and charm of the original text.
