在儒家的思想脉络中,荀子一直显得较为另类,特别是在其政治伦理中所体现出的"隆礼重法",在政治实践中的"杂以王霸",使其思想显示出典型的经世致用的特点。而且,荀子也是先秦时期的学术总结者,他将"儒"与"法"结合起来审视社会现实,并且提出更为有效的治国方略,对于当今时代依然有着重要的启示。因此,分析并诠释荀子思想的这种独特性对于我们认识中国古代的政治伦理理念,并寻求有益于当代政治发展的思想资源有着重要的意义。

Xun Zi took a particular place in the history of Confucianism, especially he put forward the＂thoughts of prospering etiquettes and respecting laws＂ in political ethics and ＂mixing the kingcraft and hegemony＂ in the political practice. These show his thought of applying theory to reality. Moreover, Xun Zi, as the summarizer of the Pre-Qin Period＇s ideas, examined the real society through combining Confucianism and Legalism, and proposed the efficient general plan of managing state affairs. It is the important enlightenment in our period. So, it has the important sense to learn the political ethics of Ancient China and seek those benefic ideological resources for development of contemporary politics.
