Extravagant Consumption of Slave Owners in Ancient Roman Country

:共和末帝国初 ,随着财富的日益集中和非生产劳动所得的急剧增加 ,罗马奴隶主生活消费中的奢侈浪费性消费显得特别突出 ,衣饰新巧、居室豪华、豪宴成风、娱乐盛行 ,风俗流弊转相仿效 ,社会上形成一股挥霍消费的歪风 ,且愈往后愈激烈。罗马奴隶主的这种奢侈浪费性消费 。

Extravagance and waste overflowed in living consumption of slave owners with increasing concentration of wealth and drastic addition of profits from others'work in the end of ancient Roman Republic and at the beginning of ancient Roman Empire. The slave owners wore latest and skilful clothes andornaments, lived in luxurious houses. Grand banquets were in fashion and recreations were in prevalent. All of these outdated customs and corrupt practices were in mutual imitation to be an unhealthy tendency of squandering consumption that came into deterioration with each passing day. The extravagant and wasteful consumption exercised great effects on the ancient Roman society.
