The Chinese characters for ＂tourism＂ and ＂landscape＂ reveal the essence of tourist phenomenon. The original implication of Chinese character for ＂tourism＂ indicates the act of cultivating one＇s morality through appreciating and enjoying the beauty of nature, and eventually, it can purify one＇s mind like ＂water＂. The Chinese character for ＂landscape＂ is about light or sunlight. Light is the root of a landscape. We can get to the essence of tourism theory if it is studied in the light of gloss, which is very simple, direct and effective.
