The Purple Flute which is Tang Xianzu＇s first legend work is an unfinished play. Although it isn＇t a mature work, its ideas and artistry is still worth affirming. Therefore, when we evaluate Tang＇s achievement in his plays, we need keep an eye on this maiden work.
