Madame Bovary is one of the representative works written by the French writer Gustave Flaubert.Emma is the heroine of this novel,she has been pursuing an empty romance throughout her short life.As the ideal love that she has been pursuing lost again and again,she has to be tied down to debts and fall into an abyss of death in the end.This paper tries to analyze the reasons of Emma＇s tragic destiny.
