A Study of the Acculturation Strategies among American Expatriates in Guangzhou

本研究就文化适应策略问题对51名目前在广州的美国人进行问卷调查,旨在加快美国人适应中国的生活与工作,加深人们对文化适应的认识。结果显示,在广州的美国人采用最多的是整合策略,其次是分离策略和同化策略,边缘策略采用得最少。

This study on acculturation strategies is designed to improve the understanding of acculturation and explore the changes resulting from contact between two distinct cultural groups through a survey of 51 subjects,namely,American expatriates who are currently working or living in Guangzhou.The encouraging results prove the expectation that integration is the most preferred acculturation strategy of American expatriates,followed by separation and assimilation.Marginalization is the least preferred.
