A Study on Cohesive Means in "Ode to the West Wind" from the Perspective of Functional Linguistics

衔接手段是语篇分析的一个重要组成部分。诗歌作为一种特殊的语篇,语言精练,形式多样,其衔接手段也非常独特。本文以《西风颂》为例,从韩礼德衔接理论指称、替代、省略、连接、词汇衔接和语音衔接手段出发,探讨英语诗歌的衔接特征,试图使篇章分析的内容更加丰富。

Cohesion is one of important parts of discourse analysis.Poetry is a special discourse with refined language diversified forms.And its cohesive means is unique.In the light of Halliday＇s cohesive theory,the writer analyzes the cohesive devices in ＂Ode to the West Wind＂ in terms of reference,substitution,ellipsis,conjunction,lexical cohesion and phonological cohesion.The special features are discussed,which is hoped to make the content of discourse analysis richer.
