A Reflection on the Deficiency of Culture in College English Teaching

文化语言学的研究揭示了语言与文化不可分割的关系,大学英语教学文化缺失现象涉及到语言教学和文化学习的关系、外语教学中的跨文化交际、文化因素、交际效果等多个方面。对这一现象的反思本质是对外语教学理念的反思。论文从文化因素在外语教学中的基础,跨文化交际能力培养等方面做了梳理与分析,希望进一步阐明文化是语言存在和使用的环境,语言是对文化的反映,语言学习必然是文化学习这一理念,这可以丰富对大学英语教学改革的认识。

The study of cultural linguistics indicates the inseparable relationships between language and culture. The deficien- cy of culture in college English teaching relates closely to the culture learning in the language teaching, which contains such is- sues as intercultural communication, cultural factors and communicative effects. The deficiency of culture in foreign language teaching is actually a matter of the notion in foreign language teaching. This essay tries to prove that culture is the base on which language exists, language is a reflection of culture and the aim of language learning is after all a learning of culture.
