This paper examines the characterization of the poor white Flem Snopes in The Town, and argues that Flem is stereotyped by Faulkner who followed the tradition of the privileged class of the Old South. The creating of Snopes image shows the deep-rooted class consciousness of the author and his worries and fears over the rise of the poor people in the changing times.
