本文梳理了直译意译的基本概念,并指出直译还是意译不但取决于翻译的目的、对象和语篇类型,而且还取决于译者本人的理解能力和写作水平。

This paper analyzes the basic concepts of literal and free translation. From the perspective of practical translation, whether we use literal translation or free translation not only depends on the purposes, receptors and type of the original text, but comprehension ability and writing skills of the translator himself.
