Common Prosperity and Progress: Asian Women and Sports

近半个世纪以来,亚洲作为世界"第一大洲",以开放的姿态见证了经济成长和社会繁荣。此间,亚洲女性功不可没,她们在体育领域的成就与前景成为世人审视亚洲崛起的新视点。从而,辩证地分析亚洲女性体育的巨大成就和掣肘痼疾尤为重要。以历史的眼光审视亚洲女性体育,其竞技体育表现、女性领导力、大众体育参与方面无不彰显出质的飞跃。但置身全球范围,亚洲与欧美的洲际差距却不断扩大,而且内部五大分区的发展水平也逐渐出现极化现象。原因在于,亚洲各国在社会经济、宗教文化、过度商业化和政策执行失当等方面仍存在不利于女性体育发展的因素。

Asia, as the ＂biggest continent＂, has witnessed great economic growth and social development for the past half century. In this, Asian women＇ s contributions have been much appreciated. Their achievements and prospects in sports have become a new viewpoint for reviewing the rise of Asia. Therefore, it is of great significance to analyze Asian women＇s sports achievements and failures. From the historical point of view, Asian women＇s athletic performance, leadership and participation took a qualitative leap. But from a global perspective, this is still far from the level of Europe and America. The development of different areas in Asia has also resulted in a polarization phenomenon. The results are due to socioeconomic status, religion, culture, over-commercialization and inappropriate policy implementation.
