An Analysis of the Response of Zhejiang Province to the 1923 Kanto Earthquake

1923年日本关东大地震造成了重大的人员伤亡和财产损失。浙江各界闻讯后,不仅对灾况深表同情,尽力赈济日灾;还关心旅日侨胞安危,积极接运灾侨归籍。前者折射出人道主义的情怀,后者是爱侨、护侨的体现。此举值得肯定与颂扬。

The strong earthquake happened in Kanto region in Japan in 1923 which caused significant casualties and property losses. Having heard the news of the disaster, all walks of life in Zhejiang Province showed sympathy to Japanese people and tried to relief them. Chinese people worried about the safety of Japan compatriots, and actively picked up the overseas Chinese to return to China , and it is reflected the humanitarian feelings of Chinese people and at the same time it is a manifestation of loving and protecting overseas Chinese , which is worthy of recognition and glorification.
