The central axis concept derived from the five-element theory takes a very important role in Chinese traditional housing, though confining the civil buildings as an architectural method. However the traditional residential design kept away from the concept and with the favourable climatic, geographical and human conditions, itage and provided references and experience for the architecture created a new situation in accordance which passed down the cultural her- design.
