As an old form of art and feat expression, the skill of hand designing had represented the perfect combina- tion of art and technique while used in costume designing. A systematic summarization had been made on the major patterns, forms of expression and the implied culture elements about hand designing by a careful study. The features and advantages of hand designing have played a special role in art expression, and have finely balanced the relationship between the traditional elements and the ideas of modern costume designing with the patterns done by hand, in which the Chinese styles were contained.
