This article examines the female narrative in Emily Dickinson's "My Life had stood——a Loaded Gun" and Sylvia Plath's "Daddy" through the analysis of the shift of personal pronoun, the images, the inverted sentence, the sound, and the use of pronouns. This article concludes that although the female speakers are confronted with male domination, their attitudes contradict: one surrenders and the other subverts. This article also observes that the attitudinal difference arises from the goals of feminism at different stages and the personal experience of the poetesses.
