摘要
李汝珍自称其《镜花缘》"花样全翻旧稗官"。《镜花缘》的新创,在于以笔记改造章回,融摄章回之形式与笔记之体性,形成了章回体的"著书者之笔"。《儒林外史》是思想家的小说,《红楼梦》是诗人的小说,我们不妨讲,《镜花缘》是学者的小说。衡量《镜花缘》新创之合理与否,其标准不是现代人的现代小说观念,应该是以古代小说文化的视域,将其放置在中国古代小说文化背景中,加以审视评判。
Li Ruzhen commentes on his own work Jing Hua Yuan(Love Story in the Fantasy Land),saying that "variety of artistry are all turned from the old petty official tradition".The innovation of this work is reforming the chapter-style novels using the style of the note-style novels,and created the chapter-style novel with author's notes.Ru Lin Wai Shi(The Scholars) can be considered as a novel by a thinker,The Dream in the Red Mansion can be considered as a novel by a poet,thus Jing Hua Yuan(Love Story in the Fantasy Land) can be considered as a novel by a scholar.The standard used to evaluate this novel should not be the concept of modern fiction;rather,it should be judged and valued in the perspective of Chinese ancient xiaoshuo culture and xiaoshuo tradition.
