Chinese International Students in South Africa:Cross-cultural Challenges and Adjustment

从跨文化的角度分析了中国留学生在南非的适应和挑战。一方面从文化、社会生活和就业移民的状况来考察中国学生群体在南非的跨文化适应情况;另一方面依据访谈内容,从个人生活、学业、社会文化等方面探讨了中国学生在南非所遇到的压力和挑战。随着在南非的中国留学生数量的迅速上升,研究中国留学生在南非的适应情况具有迫切的现实意义。

This paper analyzes Chinese international students＇ challenges and adjustment in South Africa from cross-cultural perspective.On the one hand,the acculturation features of Chinese Students at group level including culture,social life as well as the immigration and jobs are investigated;on the other hand,based on the interview transcriptions,the challenges Chinese international students face when they live in South Africa are illustrated from three aspects： social life,academic life and personal life.With the increasing number of Chinese international students in South Africa,the study of the adjustment of Chinese international students in South Africa is urgent and significant.
