This paper summarizes the theory and principles of the whole language approach which attaches importance to the entirety of the language and changes the teaching approach to the ＂dismemberment＂ of the article.The paper also discusses how to apply the approach to the English text teaching by putting forward three specific steps,aiming to facilitate the students＇ interest in learning English and improve their language proficiency.
