The development of the banknote handling mod- ule in automatic fare collection system （AFC） is intro- duced, the process of the module standard under recent background is illustrated. According to the module applica- tion, the independent research and development could in- clude four main parts. Through the verification of compati- bility, function and on-line test by the third agency, and the practical application at several railway stations, the re- liability and safety of the module could be ensured. At last, the innovation of the localized module is summarized by comparing with the imported modules.
