A Minimalist Analysis of English ECM Construction on the Basis of Probe-Goal Agreement Relationship

尽管英语中的例外授格结构(ECM)在管约论和早期最简方案中的推导过程并不完全一致,但其分析模式的发展能够集中体现生成句法理论内部的一致性发展趋向。基于Chomsky(2007,2008)的探针-目标一致关系理论,探析含有虚指词there的例外授格结构的生成模式内容:取消标示语-中心语结构图示;虚指词there在spec-vP位置合并;ECM[τto]仅仅具有[EPP]和[Person]特征;及物性实义动词V具有一致性特征和[EPP]特征。

Although the derivational patterns for English ECM construction in Government and Binding Theory and Minimalist Program are not identical,various analyses for ECM highlight the theory-internal convergence in Generative Syntax.On the basis of the Probe-Goal relationship as is proposed in Chomsky（2007,2008）,the present article puts forward a derivational procedure for English ECM construction.The proposed procedure comprises the following： spec-head is no longer the core configuration;the merging position for there is spec-vP;ECM [T to] contains only [EPP] and [Person] features;transitive V contains abstract ф-features and [EPP] feature.
