Geological features of the Tiantoushan gold (copper) ore deposit

枞阳县天头山金(铜)矿位于庐枞火山岩盆地西南缘,矿体受盆缘上株罗统砖桥组粗安质火山碎屑岩与下伏中侏罗统罗岭组砂岩中三条近南北向断裂破碎带控制,主呈含铜硅化石英脉状产出。金的载体矿物主要为黄铜矿、石英、硫铜铋矿,以裂隙充填细粒含银自然金为主,具有Au、Cu、Ag、Bi元素共生组合。矿床成因为火山-次火山岩有关的中低温热液金矿。该矿床是庐枞地区乞今发现的唯一独立金矿。

The Tiantoushan gold （copper） ore deposit, Zongyang County is situated at the southwestem fringe of the Lu-Zong volcanic basin. Ore bodies are controlled by three almost NS-trending fracture zones in upper Jurassic Zhuangqiao Formation of trachyandesitic volcaniclastic rock and the underlying mid-Jurassic Luoling Formation of sandstone on the basin margin, and mainly occur as copper-bearing silicified quartz veins. Gold-bearing minerals are mostly chalcopyrite, quartz and emplectite, and the gold fills in fracture mainly as fined-grained silver-bearing natural gold, having paragenetic associations of Au, Cu, Ag and Bi. This is a mid-low-temperature hydrothermal gold ore de- posit related to volcanic and subvolcanic rocks, and is the unique independent gold deposit found so far in the Lu-Zong area.
