Lutein is one of the carotenoids which exist widely in the nature. It is a kind of safe pigment. Be- cause of the variety of biological activity,lutein has a wide application prospect in the future. The research pro- gress in preparation and biological activity of lutein were introduced,in order to provide the reference for its fur- ther study.
