The article first analyzes the reasons why there is a moral crisis in American society. Then the author indicates why the presidents of American university do not assume the role of moral authorities like the great presidents in the past century. Finally the author tells what the presidents should do to serve the university and the society as ethical leaders and moral models. The university has to be the conscience of the society.
