Traffic Hub at Expo Park:a New Starting Point for the Development of Shanghai Metropolitan Circle

1990年上海开发浦东,迎来城市发展新纪元。20多年后,上海需要再次走出人口、产业、交通过度集聚的中心城,开辟大都市圈发展的新空间。通勤铁路是大都市圈交通网的主干、一体化发展的基础。构筑上海大都市圈的先导性工程,是在世博园区建设以通勤铁路客运站为主体的综合交通枢纽。进而构建辐射上海市域及长三角的通勤铁路网,形成以现代化轨道交通体系为主框架的同城化上海大都市圈。

In 1990 Pudong development started and the city of Shanghai entered a new era of urban development.After over two decades,again the city needs to get away from the downtown areas where are crowded with population,industries,and traffic and find new spaces for the growth of the metropolitan circle.Commuter rail is the backbone of the traffic network in a metropolitan circle and the basis for the unified development of the circle.The forerunning project for the construction of the greater Shanghai metropolitan circle is the construction of the Expo park and the traffic hub in the park that focuses on commuter rail station.The hub will further connect the commuter rail networks in the Shanghai city and Yangtze River Delta and help build the greater Shanghai metropolitan circle which is integrated through modern rail transit systems.
