The economies in the Asia-Pacific region are flourishing and have great potential for further growth.This has provided opportunities and conditions for developingregional economic cooperation in various forms.Countries in this region sharea similar view.The future trend is to strengthen economic cooperation and a looseregional organization for economic cooperation is expected to come into being bythe mid-1990s.The smooth realization of such a goal depends on whether majoreconomic powers will act according to the principle of equality,mutual benefit andmutual respect.
