自《莺莺传》至"王西厢",红娘更多也更积极地参与崔、张爱情全过程,往往在崔、张爱情发展、同时也是故事发展遭遇困境的时候,安排红娘作为第三方力量介入,不仅推动了情节发展,使人物和作品都具有更好的娱乐效果,而且展现了红娘反抗束缚、用智慧和勇气征服环境、追求自由爱情和美好生活的精神,使红娘摆脱了作为丫鬟的从属地位,成为具有独立精神和坚定意志的完整的人。在积极娱乐视角下,"王西厢"中红娘形象的形成,和观众读者积极娱乐的要求有重要关系,也更好地实现了积极娱乐,在带给观众读者娱乐的同时,能够唤起深层次的情感共鸣,使"王西厢"中的红娘具有特出魅力和久远生命力。

Compared Biography of Yingying with The West Chamber, Hongniang was involved in the love story of ZHANG Jun-rui and CUI Ying-ying more and had greater influences upon them. Hongniangs help and encouragement were indispen- sable for them, and the whole story could not progress smoothly if not for these behaviors of Hongniang. As a result, Hongniang became much brighter and outstanding as a character. Under the positive-entertainment perspective, the forma- tion of Hongniang＇s character in Wang＇s text of The West Chamber had close relationship with readers＇ request of positive en- tertainment. Hongniang brought more entertainment to the audience, and arouse more and deeper emotional response among the audience.
