Libraries Enhanced by "Cloud Computing"

图书馆的"云"时代即将来临,新技术将成为现代图书馆管理运作中最重要的基础设施。"云计算"可以把大量的分散各处的计算机资源进行有效整合,形成所谓的"云"资源储蓄中心,同时以最便捷的方式,快速向众多用户提供优质的按需服务。它本质上就是一种资源共享。其应用在图书馆中具有安全、稳定、灵活、低成本、个性化的新型服务特质。它对用户设备端的要求低,但需要图书管理员及时更新服务理念和操作技能。

The age of ＂cloud＂ libraries is imminent and new technologies will become the most important infrastructure for the management and operation of modern libraries. ＂Cloud computing＂ collects effectively the numerous computer resources scatted around, integrates them into the so-called ＂cloud＂ resource bank, and provides for a huge number of users the required services in high quality and with speed and convenience, which is in essence a form of resource sharing. As a new type of service, the application of cloud computing in libraries is characterized by security, stability, flexibility, individualization and low cost. The service does not have a high demand on the users＇ facilities, but it requires that librarians should update their notions of service and skills of operation.
