Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens （IOL） implantation has become the most widely acceptedand effective surgery for cataract patients. Although progress in this technique has greatly reduced surgery-related complications, visual acuity can be substantially compromised in certain circumstances, postoperatively. Cystoid macular edema （CME） is one of the most common complications and needs special attention.
