By combining with the railway technical supervision work, the author introduces the relationship be- tween railway measurement and safety from three aspects including the important focuses about railway safety, the basic requirements of railway technical supervision work, the measures required to ensure the quality and safety of railway technical supervision work. The author expounds in detail the difference and relation between measurement and meterage, summarizes the characteristics, major contents and development trends of railway measurement work.
