On the Evolution and Development of the Ancient Chinese Etiquette Institutions

中国宫廷养象历史悠久,但宋代之前没有专门的官方养象机构。宋代始设的养象所,隶属太仆寺。此后元、明、清各代均沿袭设置类似机构,但机构名称、职责范围和所属机构时有变更。养象机构是中国古代礼仪制度的直接产物,对于该机构的研究有助于了解中国古代礼仪制度的演变和发展。

China＇s court etiquette has a long history, but it was not until the Song Dynasty that official etiquette institutions began to take effect, as membership of Taipu Temple. Ever since then, similar institutions were set up in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, but they were somewhat different in titles, responsibilities and membership. Etiquette institutions were the product of ancient Chinese etiquette system. The study will help to understand the evolution and development of the ancient Chinese etiquette system.
