杜甫《兵车行》四种英译本的翻译风格——基于语料库的分析探讨

A Corpus-based Stylistic Study of Four English Versions of Bing Che Xing by Du Fu

近几十年来,基于语料库的语言研究蓬勃发展,与之相关的语言研究方法也得到了学术界的广泛认同。语料库不仅为语言研究提供了广泛真实的语言素材,而且使语言研究由传统的内省式抽样方法转变为客观的数据调查和分析,从而更加直观和真实可靠。随着翻译主体性研究的不断深人,译者风格批评也必然成为其不可或缺的一部分。本文通过自建小型语料库,并以英语通用语料库Brown Corpus为参照,采用定量与定性相结合的研究方法,并运用相关理论,从词汇及语篇两个层面入手,对杜甫《兵车行》四个不同的英译本进行分析,对Witter Byn-ner,Burton Watson,杨宪益夫妇以及Rewi Alley四种不同的译者风格进行了探讨。

This paper presents a corpus-based stylistic study of four English versions of ancient Chinese poet Du Fu's Bing Che Xing.By quantitatively and qualitatively analysing the four translators' respective styles,the paper shows that a corpus-based approach could be quite effective in stylistic studies of translation,and that the findings offered by corpus-based investigations tend to provide a solid foundation for translation criticism.
