水文工作是环境保护及经济建设的一项具有前瞻性和基础性的工作,而水文信息技术(hydro-IT)又是水文工作的一项基础、必备工具。随着信息技术的不断深化与发展,科技的日益进步,近些年来,现代水文信息技术在水文学中的应用有了长足的发展,例如:3S技术,使得水文模型的整合研究从技术上变得切实可行,从而为水文学的研究开创了新的研究领域。

The hydrology construction is a forward-looking and basic work of environmental protection and economic construction. The hydro-IT is a basis for hydrologic work,and an essential tool. In recent years, as the deepening and development of the information technology, modern hydro-IT has a considerable development and progress. For example, 3S, which makes the integration of the hydrological model become feasible , and create new areas for the hydrology research.
