This article discusses the history and present situation of frame - breaking, aspecial grammatical phenomenon in Cerman. By the analysis of a number of examples the author concludes that - breaking has rhetoric effects, and the relation between frame - structure and frame - breaking is that of complementing each other, of destroying one and establishing the other.
