Virgin Soil Upturned has ever been considered as classical works of socialist realism,in which, however,there are a series of plots that cannot coincide with socialist realism.Sholokovs original intention to write this book was to sing the praises of the agricultural collectivization movement.But as a writer who would stick to the life authenticity at any time,he had no choice but to look the regrettable aspects of this movement in the face.As a result,the novelist found himself in a dilemma.The novel is permeated with the dialogues and debates derived from different voices.Its tragic ending is just the embodiment of the inner contradiction with which the author was confronted.
