The application status of poly vinyl alcohol（PVA） fiber in papermaking field was introduced.On basis of research and analysis on the patented literature form domestic and abroad,the patent status relative to PVA fiber was compared and analyzed,especially the core patents relative to the competitor.The suggestion was provide to the patent distribution and the patent strategy about the application of PVA fiber in papermaking field.
