论唐诗翻译中对仗句式的处理方法

唐诗的艺术成就很高,同时,古诗格律的发展至此也臻于完善。其中,对仗的严格要求对于译者来说是个颇费斟酌的问题。在众多的唐诗英译本中,对于对仗句式的处理各不相同。从形式上讲,大致可以分为三种:译为英语句型相仿的两句或较为对称的结构;不求结构对称,译为各自独立的两句;整合语意,译为一句。诗歌翻译中信息的损失是不可避免的,但应尽量多保留一些原作结构上的特点。

The famous Tang poems are also known for their strict rules in wording and rhythm.It is thus a tough job for the translators to put the perfect antithetical sentences into English.There are already many different English versions of Tang poems.The ways people deal with the antithetical sentences can roughly be classified into three groups,namely,translating them into English antithetical parallelism,putting the two antithetical sentences into one English sentence,and translating the two antithetical sentences into two free English sentences.Although the loss of information in translating poems is unavoidable,we still should try to keep more of the original works for the English readers.
