On the Latent Function of Coherent Devices in Discourses from the Perspective of Relevance Theory

在关联理论的框架下,从语用和认知的角度对语篇连贯手段的潜功能进行探讨。语篇的连贯不是字面上的衔接,而是意义上的连续。语篇的连贯可以通过语篇的明示意义和隐含意义以及语篇接受者的动态认知获得。只有把语篇的连贯和语境紧密结合,才能全面准确地解释各种语篇中的连贯,从而正确理解句子与句子之间的连接关系。

On the basis of relevance theory, this article discusses the latent function of some devices to realize discourse coherence from a pragmatic and cognitive perspective. Discourse coherence lies in the continuation of meaning rather than literal cohesion. Discourse coherence can be attained through explicature and implicature in the discourse and receiver＇ s dynamic cognition. Only by the close combination of discourse coherence and context, can the coherence in different discourses be fully and precisely explained, and then the connections between sentences are correctly understood.
