浅论丁未年慈禧对岑春煊的疏弃对清末新政的影响

On Cen Chunxuan's Being Abondoned by the Empress Dowager Tz'u-hsi' and Its Impact on New Politics of Late Qing Dynasty

庚子西狩,岑春煊勤王有功,慈禧恩之。迨新政开启,封疆大吏岑春煊以近代功成登上地方官僚之翘楚,有资抗衡北洋袁世凯,史有"南岑北袁"之说。丁未年,岑春煊骤然北上,扛起清流大旗与京师奕、袁白热会战,却走上了党同伐异的死路,终以岑瞿开缺结束。台后之慈禧坐视政争,借力打力,致使丁未两党元气大伤,实无胜家。端详丁未四月间,慈禧对待岑春煊态度由亲到疏的转变,看似受人挑唆,实则事发多端,有深刻因由值得细呷。

Cen Chunxuan who was dutiful to the throne surpported greatly in the ＂West Hunting＂ of Qing Royalty in 1900, hence was cherished by the Empress Dowager Tz＇ u -hsi. Unitil the advent of new policy, Cen Chunxuan had performed an extraordinarily important role in the provincial political stage as the first- rank governer, and was compe- tent enough to balance the power of Yuan Shikai the governer of Beiyang Army. Given the reasons, in Chinese history, Cen chunxuan and Yuan Shikai have been tided as ＂Cen of the South, Yuan of the North＂. in 1907, Cen Chunxuan＇ s sudden northern marching in the name of Qingliu Party started furious fight with Yi Kuang and Yuan Shikai, however, the fight was ended in the firements of both Cen and Zhai due to the eliquing. The Empress Dowager Tz＇ u - hsi＇ s seem- ingly calm backstage watching actually made this lose -lose consequence, as we say, wars without winner. Through in- vestigating the changing attitude of the Empress Dowager Tz＇ u - hsi to Cen Chunxuan, the author finds out that instead of simple instigation between the two, many complicated details deserve meditation.
