Li Peifu skillfully employs suspense,one of the traditional writing techniques in plotting his stories.His latest novel,The Book of Life,clearly reveals this feature.This paper makes an analysis of the techniques of suspense set-up from the whole suspense that constructs the story,the partial suspense that is implemented in the story and the tiny suspense that is laid up in all chapters.
