Culture Teaching and the Development of Intercultural Communication Competence

语言和文化密不可分,外语教学应当以文化为基础,从根本上培养学习者的跨文化意识,有效地提高学习者的跨文化交际能力。本文从跨文化交际谈起,首先探讨了文化教学与语言教学的关系;其次,分析了当前大学英语教学的现状和问题,进一步指出文化教学在外语教学中的重要性;最后,如何在外语教学中培养学习者的跨文化意识并提高他们的跨文化交际能力,文章提出了文化教学的内容、方法及原则等。

Language and culture are closely related.Foreign language teaching should be based on culture,and its essential goal is to develop learners＇ intercultural communication competence.Beginning from the concept of intercultural communication,this paper firstly discusses the relationship between culture teaching and language teaching.Then it analyses the current situation and problems of college-English education,showing the importance of culture teaching in the further step.Last,the paper explores how to develop learners＇ intercultural communication competence in foreign language classroom.
