The process of naming in the writing of ethnography conveys the understanding of heterogeneous culture by the ethnographers. The process of naming in the translation of ethnography conveys the comprehension of the author＇s research achievements by the translator. Although Argonauts of the Western Pacific has conveyed the main idea and content of the original text, there were still many errors in details. For the translated terms, the major problems in this version are that there are lots of mis-translated terms, and the translated terms are inconsistent. To discuss the problems of the translated terms in this version may help the readers understand the original content more accurately, and remind the translators to pay more attention to the principle of faithfulness in academic translation.
