中国通商银行早期发钞考

On the Release of Bank Note of the Imperial Bank of China at the Early Stage

本文主要依据已刊、未刊档案史料,梳理清末时期中国通商银行发钞制度的形成过程,以及该行钞票印制、发行和流通的基本史实。本文在分析该行早期发钞的作用与制约因素的同时,揭示中国通商银行虽然开创性地发行了新式银行纸币,但依然受缚于危机之中的传统白银货币经济。

Based on historical facts about the formation of the bank note release system of the Imperial Bank of China as well as its bank notes' printing, publishing and circulation, this paper analyzes the effect and restraining factors of the bank. It reveals that though the Imperial Bank issued new bank notes, it is still restrained by the traditional silver monetary economy that stuck in crisis.
