Left-wing movie breakthrough of "star system" in the 1930s

电影自19世纪末传入中国后,迅速崛起为广受国人欢迎的大众艺术,为近代中国女性步入社会提供了一个崭新的平台。到20世纪30年代,电影女明星成了上海引人注目的社会群体,"明星制"成为一时之风。针对"明星制"的弊端,左翼电影采取多种措施,对其予以批评并试图突破其藩篱。但宥于当时中国电影发展之现实,"明星制"终究未能发生根本改观。

Since its introduction into China in the late 19th century, movie soon became a popular public art, providing a new platform for modem Chinese women to enter society, and by 1930s, movie actresses had become a dramatic social group in Shanghai. To criticize and break through the disadvantages of the ＂star system＂ which was then prevalent, various measures were taken by left-wing movies. But restricted by the reality of movie develop- ment, ＂star system＂ was not fundamentally reformed.
